Hotel Emilia hanging between the Sky and the Sea

The privileged position of Hotel Emilia is one of the features that will make your holiday a unique one.
The Hotel has in fact the privilege to be suspended between the sky and the sea and surrounded by a marvellous private park.
You may be willing to walk barefoot on the lawn, read a book, sunbathe on a wooden deckchair or surf the net through the free and unlimited Wi-Fi service: you can do that.

In the garden of the Hotel you can relax and breathe the perfume of grass and flowers, looking at the sea and the sunset colours. The garden is house to holm oaks, strawberry trees, black locusts, lavenders and olive trees. You will share the park with some friendly little hoopoes and pheasants. At the gazebo you can have lunch in your bathing suit or trunks, allow yourself a snack during the day or enjoy a tasty aperitif.

Emilia is a four star hotel with a swimming pool overlooking the sea of Ancona. The swimming pool is at your complete disposal every day and from there you can also admire the panoramic view on Portonovo from a privileged position; instead, if you prefer to reach the beaches of Portonovo Bay, the Hotel guarantees a free and comfortable shuttle car service between June 15th and September 15th, at set times.


Emilia is Our Grandmother

Emilia is not the Italian region, Emilia is not a city.
Emilia is our grandmother. In 1964 grandma Emilia inspired and supported the construction of the Hotel on a beautiful wheat field overlooking Portonovo Bay and hanging between the sky and the sea. Over forty years before that date, in 1923, Emilia had already created the first Osteria in the hamlet of Poggio and in 1929the restaurant on the beach of Portonovo, where she prepared the most appreciated moscioli sauce of the town, later on also tasted and loved by Prince Charles of Wales.

She was a countryside woman who offered herself to the sea and then never got back. She was the keystone around which the world of Portonovo was rotating in those years, the point where everyone met, sooner or later, as in a safe and peaceful harbour to arrive at.
Grandma, thanks to her strong presence, contributed to the realization of our mother Elia and our father Lamberto’s dream: building this Hotel. The sincere sense of hospitality and the great passion for art and music have always made this Hotel a unique one.
It is thanks to this passion that in 1966 the Ginestra del Conero Award was created and dedicated to painters, sculptors and writers.
Many of the wonderful pieces of art born inside Hotel Emilia between 1966 and 2001 from the hands of national and international artists, are still here nowadays and transform the Hotel into a little modern art gallery.
In 2002 Hotel Emilia opened its door to music, inaugurating a series of concert seasons called Emilia Concerti sul Prato (Concerts on the Lawn) during which Italian and world famous jazz artists perform in the Hotel Park.

Hotel Emilia is the result of a passion that has penetrated three generations: starting from our grandmother Emilia, passing through our mother Elia, our father Lamberto, our brother Maurizio, and today still living in us, Raffaella and Michele.

Hotel Emilia is located in one of the most beautiful and striking sites of the Riviera del Cònero. This is the reason why in all the 30 rooms of the Hotel you will enjoy incomparable moments of relax.

Each room of Hotel Emilia is different from the others because they are all unique and personal. The panoramic view is breathtaking: in fact the rooms, overlooking the sea, seem to hanging over Portonovo Bay.

From the rooms you can admire wonderful sea dawns and sunsets, but also the green slopes of Mount Cònero that descend and melt into the blue sea.

In the rooms you will find soft towels, towelling robes and all comforts to make your holiday more enjoyable: a hairdryer, a mini-bar, a safe, a TV set, air conditioning and Wi-Fi.

The history of our dishes dates back to last century when Grandma Emilia started to cook and became the queen of the moscioli sauce, a typical dish of the Riviera del Cònero we suggest you to try! It is very much loved by the inhabitants of Ancona and also by Prince Charles!

After grandma Emilia, also our mother Elia became synonym with high cuisine and genuine flavours. She received the Michelin Star in 1971 and then she left our young Chefs this legacy, along with curiosity, passion for food research and a refined sensibility in the gourmet taste of her children, us, who are preserving the tradition of healthy and good food.
